Press Release Body: Airbus S.A.S. fell just just 72 planes shy of the Boeing Co. in
the sales race for 2007, giving its U.S. rival a second-straight win in the high
stakes game of commercial aircraft sales.
The European jet maker said Wednesday it booked 1,341 commercial aircraft orders
last year valued at US$157-billion, compared to Boeing\'s 1,413 orders.
But Airbus managed to deliver 453 jetliners last year, 19 more than in the previous
year, and 12 more than Boeing in 2007.
\"The customer confidence we saw last year was extremely important,\" said Tom Enders,
Airbus chief executive, at a press conference in Toulouse, France. \"As a result, we
have a huge - and high quality - backlog of more than 3,400 aircraft, filling our
order book for something like six years.\"

Boeing reclaimed the sales race title in 2006 for the first time in five years from
Airbus.
